Whenever people get sick, often the first thing that comes to mind is that the main cause could be a weak immune system. That could be true to some extent because it is said that when your immune system is weak, you are also susceptible to almost all kinds of disease or illness. Let's say, the weather suddenly changed in your area, and after being under the scorching heat of the sun, you got wet when the heavy rain suddenly poured. Chances are in just a day or two you'll get sick with flu or perhaps suffer from common colds and cough. And that will be no fun. So, before you become prone to any illness, you have to make sure that your body is fed with immune boosters.
Immune boosters are foods that are rich in antioxidants like vitamins A, C, and E. For sure, these vitamins are all familiar to you; the vitamin A for one is rich in beta-carotene, a red pigment that is commonly found in plants like carrots and goji berries. Vitamin C, on the other hand, is commonly found in fruits like kiwi, Camu berry, lemon, guava, strawberry, grapefruit, raspberries, lychees, peach, and mango. But aside from these fruits, there are also vegetables that are good sources of vitamin C such as cauliflower, tomato, broccoli, spring greens, gourd, and green cabbage. So, if you are not really into fruits, at least include any of these veggies in your diet. Now, for Vitamin E, which is also known as the fat-soluble vitamin, you can get it from green leafy vegetables, nuts or almonds, and vegetable oil.
But aside from all those foods mentioned above, raw foods like cacao powder, cacao nibs, cacao butter, blue mangosteen, and acai are also good sources of antioxidants. These antioxidants are known to stop runaway free radicals, which are often the leading causes of cell death. Once these free radicals oxidize and damage the tissue, it can eventually lead to diseases such as cancer. So before that happens, you have to start making changes to your diet, and see to it that these raw foods rich in antioxidants are included. Take note: the more antioxidants you consume, the better it is for your health.
