Many studies over the years have shown that people who eat fruit as part of a balanced diet aren't as likely to develop serious health conditions. Whether it's heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, fruit contains things that help your body stay healthy and disease free.
In general, the amount of vitamins in a fruit depends not only on the type of fruit but also on the way the fruit is consumed.

You might be thinking that you're pulling a fast one and saving time when you take multi-vitamins or other supplements instead of eating fruit, but you're missing out of some of the benefits of eating fruit naturally.
For one, taking a vitamin won't help with your need for fiber in your diet. Fresh fruit is a great source of natural fiber. Another negative is that vitamins ingested this way are NOT digested and distributed into your bloodstream the same way that happens with eating raw, natural fruit whole.

Vitamin supplements are just that - a supplement if you miss a portion here or there. They should NOT be considered an alternative to eating fruit on a daily basis, though.

Fresh fruit (with the skin still intact) is by far the healthiest way to reap the benefits of fruit. This is the way nature gives it to us, and the way that provides our body's with the most vitamins and minerals that are so important to a healthy life.

Next in line is frozen or freeze fried fruit. Most of the nutrients in fruit are kept around when frozen for later use. Fruit loses some of its benefit when you freeze it, but it's still a healthy, smart choice.

The worse kind of fruit you can have is canned fruit. This is because canned fruit typically uses a very sugary syrup to preserve the look and taste of the canned fruit. While you still get some benefits from eating fruit this way, it's not the best way to get the most out of fruit.
